What are Non-Persistent Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer when you visit certain Web pages. They cannot harm your computer and the cookies used on this site do not contain any personal or private information. Non-persistent cookies (also called per-session cookies) are temporary and are not placed on your system's hard drive. They are automatically discarded when the Web browser is closed.

How to Enable Non-Persistent Cookies

If you do not know your browser version, select 'Help' from your browser's toolbar and then select 'About' from the drop down menu

For Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.X

  1. Select 'Tools' from your browser's toolbar
  2. In the drop down menu click on 'Internet Options'
  3. In the dialog box that appears click on the 'Security' tab
  4. Click on the 'Custom Level' button
  5. Use the scroll bar on the side of the box to scroll down to 'Cookies'
  6. For 'Allow per-session cookies (not stored)' select either the circle that says 'Enable' or 'Prompt'
  7. Click the 'OK' button

For Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.X

  1. Select 'Tools' from your browser's toolbar
  2. In the drop down menu click on 'Internet Options'
  3. In the dialog box that appears click on the 'Privacy' tab
  4. Use the slider to set the security level to 'medium'
  5. Click the 'OK' button

For Netscape 4.x, 5.x, and 6.x

  1. Select 'Edit' from your browser's toolbar
  2. In the drop down menu click on 'Preferences'
  3. In the left hand area of the dialog box that appears click on 'Advanced'
  4. In the right hand area of the screen check the box next to 'Accept all cookies' or 'Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server'
  5. If you want to be warned when a cookie is being placed on your computer, check the box that says 'Warn me before accepting a cookie'
  6. Click the 'OK' button

For Netscape 7.x or Greater

  1. Select 'Edit' from your browser's toolbar
  2. In the drop down menu click on 'Preferences'
  3. In the left hand area of the dialog box that appears double click on 'Privacy & Security'
  4. In the list the appears below 'Privacy & Security', select 'Cookies'
  5. In the right hand area of the screen check the box next to 'Enable all cookies' or 'Enable cookies for the originating web site only'
  6. If you want to be warned when a cookie is being placed on your computer, check the box that says 'Ask me before storing a cookie'
  7. Click the 'OK' button
